Newark Liberty International Airport’s Terminal A showcases how structural silicone glazing delivers durable, flexible facade performance.
Newark Liberty International Airport serves the New York metropolitan area and is a major international hub. The redevelopment of Terminal A began in 2019 and was completed in 2023 as the first phase of a comprehensive master-plan through 2065.
Because the airport deals with high-security requirements, all vendors were required to complete rigorous security training and documentation controls. The technical compliance and long-term performance history of our sealant systems helped secure selection for this challenging application.

Terminal A includes redesigned roadways, a six-level 2,700-car parking garage and rental centre, 33 gates and a walkway connecting the AirTrain station, garage and terminal building.
Modular construction techniques were used to reduce disruption: components were assembled off-site and transported for installation.
The facade utilized UltraGlaze™ SSG4600 structural silicone glazing sealant and SilPruf™ SCS2000 sealant in various waterproofing membranes. These systems are designed to perform under extreme weather, UV exposure and high traffic without loss of elasticity or adhesion.

The terminal has received noteworthy international recognition: It holds a 5-Star Airport Terminal rating from Skytrax. It was also named “World’s Best New Airport Terminal” in 2024. The redevelopment’s sustainability credentials include LEED® Gold Certification.
Our structural silicone systems - such as UltraGlaze SSG4600 sealant and SilPruf SCS2000 sealant - enable curtainwall facades that combine strength, flexibility and durability. These systems support design ambitions while also addressing long-term building performance under challenging operational demands.
